I want to be honest with you: the copycats got to me.
You all probably know how Claws for Change began...
I was on maternity leave. I wanted a turtle and a whale shark hair claw, and I couldn’t believe they didn’t exist… so I made them.
I’ve always prided myself on only making original designs.
But others don’t.
Lately I’m seeing a lot more copies of our designs.
Even in Australian shops!
One shop literally claimed my claws as their own (and ghosted me when I contacted them).
It’s the wild west out there.
So… I panicked.
I rushed the process of our new hair pin designs — the Great White Shark Pin and the Fin Pin.
I was trying to get them out before they could get leaked and copied.
I followed my usual process to start with.
They were sketched and prototyped. The works.
But when it was time for the final prototype I was away. I couldn’t get them in my hands and I made a couple of decisions remotely.
When the shipment landed, my heart sank.
They’re so beautiful to look at. But they just don't hold hair like I want them to.
Definitely not terrible. They still work. But just not Claws for Change standard. Not the exceptional standard I fight for.
So here’s the deal...
I hate waste. It’s one of our founding values.
And I want them to go to a good home.
So I’ve decided to still sell them, with this very clear message attached.
They’ll be $10AUD each and every penny from sales is going straight to the Australian Marine Conservation Society. We're not even wanting our investment back.
I’m sure you’ll still love them and if they don't work for your hair as well as you’d like, they would make a gorgeous bookmark or puppets to show your kids how to swim with sharks! 😉.
For me, they're a reminder to slow down, trust myself, and never let copycats push me into rushing.
I’ll perfect these designs and bring them back more jaw-some.
But for now, they’re there for you if you want one.

When will i get my claw?
Orders are almost exclusively packaged and shipped within 48 hours.
From there, they are shipped using your preffered service.
You can choose between standard and express services to suit your needs.
Free shipping is available for domestic orders over $99 and international orders over $199.

Well the hair claws are great but I thought when you brought 3 you get one free so I have brought 4 and then another 2 in another order and didn’t receive a free one ,false advertising not so great but you guys can fix this the humpback one should be great cheers

There are lots of similar shops online selling similar designs but I'll always do a bit of research and select the most ethical and sustainable place who gives back to the environment. This is is the main reason it picked this shop. I bough the green turtle, the whale shark and the multi coloured sea horse in small sizes. I often get compliments when I wear them and a few ppl have asked where I got them from. Perfect gifts!
